Animation art is often stored with methods borrowed from the storage of other art mediums, such as photography or works on paper. Generic storage solutions applied to large collections of animation art, even in archive, has resulted in a wide variety of production media being stored in one massive oversimplified manner.

The problem with prescribing generic solutions for specific objects is that it inadvertantly creates a big generic problem. Sometimes these problems, created out of ignorance, have devastating effects, especially when applied to larger groups of animation art.
